I met Park Nobel, when he visited my business, a year ago. We produce a cactus-liqueur on the Island of Bonaire (the Cadushy of Bonaire Liqueur). The first book I read from Park was the introduction. That book triggered me to read more about these very special plants. This book Desert Wisdom gives a very unusual perspective on these very underestimated plants. In this book he describes the possible role CAM-plants (Cacti and Agaves) in dealing with major climate problems of our Earth. A true EYE-OPENER. If you are interested in Climate change and/or Cacti you must read this book. Park inspired me to start a project on Bonaire for further research on utilization of Cacti and its role in climate change. Thank you Park for writing this book !!!!! I Love it!
I do not know the author, but I was privileged today to see his phenomenal cacti & agave garden. It is truly a work of research-as-art, a gallery of those astonishing sculptural plants that, as a native westerner, I ought to know much more about. I was inspired to buy his book, immediately. I am not a scientist, but I feel the need to understand survival in more ways than simply watching reality shows or stocking up on flashlights. With Park S. Nobel as my interpreter I intend to learn the wisdom of the agaves and cacti.
